Abstract:
In this paper we develop a description of engineering practice. This description is based on published research on engineering work and on interview data from the engineering faculty. It was under taken as part of a larger study that is underway at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. The study is looking at the relationship between how engineering is taught and how it is practiced.
